I know firthand how much time can be wasted because of poor optimization. You can have a great site and still not be seen.
Secondly, inbound links are extremely necessary to the popularity of the site. If you do a check for link popularity on SubmitExpress.com you will be able to check yours and your competitor's links for the major search enginges. SubmitExpress.com also has articles which are informative about Search Engine Optimization.

Spending alot of money at the inception of our website business on advertising can be many times a total waste. Once we have the site optimized, we can venture out a little with pay per clicks with companies such as 7search.com and Google. I recommend Google over 7Search as my experience with the latter was not great. I had mostly people from third world countries clicking in and that was not going to put money in my pocket. I also encountered scams as a result! Google is a one that I would recommend.
